Rich & Cheap Skin Creams

If better skin care is one of your 2006 New Year resolutions, check out the Feb. issue of Real Simple. That magazine has a great article on frugal, but effective skin creams for $15 or less.

The piece is called "More Balm for you Buck," by Sue Chung.

Here'a rundown of the some of the top picks from Real Simple. In this post, I'll just target the selections for "Super Dry" or "Mature Skin." Later this week, I'll feature products for other skin types.

(For Super Dry, Aging Skin)

For the face:

Pond's Mend & Defend $9 (with grapeseed extracts and SPF15 protection)

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 (lightweight cream and a favorite of some dermatologists) $10

Burt's Bees Carrot Nutritive Night Creme (features avocados, almonds and other rich goodies.)$12

For the body:

Vaseline Intensive Care Firming & Radiance Age-Defying Lotion $6.50
Cerave Moisturizing Cream $15
Nivea Body Extra Enriched Lotion $5

Hello Dear Frugal Duchess of Beauty,

...You sure are a beautiful lady! :)

It is so kind of You to find the less expensive products and promote them! ...though I wouldn't recommend putting a lot of synthetic substances on one's skin ...as most of the less expensive lines contain over 90% synthetic substances that are very unhealthy to skin and body both! And yet also a lot of really expensive skin-care lines contain too many synthetic substances too. So, it makes no sense to pay a lot of money for something that is unhealthy!

I recommend people to read the lables ...and as much as possible try to buy certified organic products. Skin-care products penetrate through the skin into our bodies and if they contain a lot of synthetic substances, they become toxic and the result is disease ...that may only break out later in life, but then it is almost impossible to reverse the damage.

Although I don't agree with You in all You do, I know You are doing a good and worthwile job. I wish You many blessings and great success.

wow! Thanks so much for such a thoughtful note.

And yes you are right on so many points!!!

I also believe in natural or organic products. And I will write about homemade beauty products in future posts.

But so many people throw down big bucks for expensive products that are basically the same as cheaper drug store items.

So read, the label, beware and shop for natural products whenever possible.
Thanks again for your kind and insightful remarks.

Thanks for the great info.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such a thoughtful comment.

Your comments on my blog have really made me think about synthetic products.

I've recently purged my purse, makeup bag and medicine cabinet of products containing paraben...

I'm hunting down other culprits as well.

I'm continuing to look for natural skin care products and routines.

Best wishes,
